Scope of Responsibility This position is responsible for introducing and educating customers about wine, as well as overseeing the wine department within the retail store. Providing excellent customer service, maintaining inventory, and attending and participating in wine tastings and other wine-related events are key elements of this position. Essential Functions Provide excellent customer service by educating and assisting customers with the purchase of wine Restock wine case stackings Restock and face wine on shelves Be responsible for wine tastings at the store Check for and complete special instructions from the Store Manager Check special order book; inform wine buyer or complete sales Offer customers assistance in wine selection and exclusive samplings Dust and maintain cleanliness of the wine department Attend and participate in customer and distributor wine tastings and other scheduled events Assist with semi-annual inventories Check inventory on ordering day against auto-generated orders and submit to wine buyers when completed Make recommendations for additional wines to add to inventory based on customer requests, distributor samplings, and store sales potential Take and follow through with customer special requests Maintain ongoing education to expand personal wine knowledge through reading Back up cashier duties as needed Back up carry-out duties as needed Back up stocking of other products as needed Suggest ideas for product displays to the Store Manager Serve as a member of the store team and uphold the reputation of Belmont, including confidentiality and public relations Cultivate a wine customer following by promoting exclusives and the Belmont Wine Club
