The Terra d’Oro Winery Terra d’Oro, or “Land of Gold” in Italian, is an exciting wine from Amador County, California. Located in the Sierra Foothills, this region is known for producing some of the world’s best Old Vine Zinfandels. Originally planted in the 1850’s during California’s Gold Rush, this area has become famous for producing high quality, affordable wines. Pinot Grigio The Terra d’Oro Pinot Grigio comes from the Clarksburg AVA in California which is know for its cool morning fog coming in off the San Francisco Bay. This cool fog keeps bright acidity in the grapes which translate into a crisp and refreshing dry white wine. With flavors of apple, pear, and cantaloupe, this Pinot Grigio will pair perfectly with grilled fish, chicken or turkey burgers. Zinfendel The Terra d’Oro Zinfandel is the brands staple wine. Every vintage since 2012 has received 90+ points, with the current 2016 vintage getting a 90 point rating from Wine Enthusiast. The hot days and cool nights of Amador County allow a jammy, fruit forward zinfandel with a peppery finish. It also sits in oak barrels for 14 months to mellow out the tannins while giving hints of vanilla and cedar. This Zinfandel’s flavors of blackberry, black cherry, and pepper will pair perfectly with a steak on the grill, any smoked meat, or a nice slab of BBQ ribs. Moscato Finally, the Terra d’Oro Moscato brings a sweet option to the lineup. Although it is a sweet wine, the crisp acidity and natural grape sugars left in the wine deliver an amazing, fresh tasting Moscato. The winemaker maximizes flavor by keeping the grape skins in the juice for 24 hours. This highlights the wines natural flavors of honey, peach, pineapple and lemon zest. Pair this Moscato with anything spicy on the grill or your next dessert.
