Essential functions include:

  1. Provide excellent customer service by educating and assisting customers and staff of wine knowledge
  2. Review store for out of stock, slow moving, and low inventory of products
  3. Determine wine(s) to add to inventory based on number of customer requests, distributor samplings, and the ability of the store to sell the wine
  4. Be familiar with competitor prices, including sales and every day prices at other retailers
  5. Develop innovative ideas for increasing wine sales
  6. Take and follow through with customer special requests
  7. Check special order book; order product or complete sales
  8. Place orders for wine with distributors based on budgeted amounts
  9. Coordinate transfer of wine inventory between stores to fill store special orders as needed
  10. Suggest ideas for product merchandizing
    1. Restock as necessary
    2. Assemble case stackings prior to in-store tastings with products being featured at the event
  11. Restock and face wine on shelves
  12. Monitor wine humidor for appropriate temperature and operation
  13. Dust and maintain cleanliness of wine department
  14. Coordinate and organize wine tasting events
  15. Attend and participate in wine tastings, both customer and distributor, and other events as scheduled
  16. Take periodic inventory as requested
  17. Maintain on-going education to expand personal wine knowledge through reading, tastings and other research
  18. Educate staff on wine through one-on-one discussions and product knowledge classes

Serve as a member of the Belmont/Chalet team working with all other members toward the success of the organization.  Responsible in all matters to protect and uphold the reputation of Belmont and those served, being attentive to issues of confidentiality, public relations and long-term planning.

Secondary functions include:

  1. All other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Store Manager, District Manager, Upper Management.

Position Requirements:

  1. Education, Licenses, and Experience
    1. Indiana permit to sell alcohol required
    2. High school diploma or equivalency
    3. Demonstrated expertise in wine
    4. Retail sales experience preferred
  2. Skills and Knowledge
    1. Able to use good judgment in dealing with public and employees
    2. Computer/cash register skills
    3. Effective decision making ability
    4. Knowledgeable of legal requirements for purchase of alcoholic and tobacco products
    5. Ability to organize and manage multiple tasks
    6. Ability to work collaboratively with others
    7. Effective interpersonal and communication skills
    8. Extensive knowledge of wine products
    9. Basic knowledge of alcoholic and tobacco products
  3. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
    1. Frequent walking, standing, talking, hearing and repetitive motions required
    2. Frequent reaching, kneeling, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling required
    3. Requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally and up to 25 pounds frequently
    4. Requires the ability to see things clearly at 20 inches or less, as is common in visual inspection or computer work
    5. This position is not substantially exposed to adverse working conditions.
